Det er med stor sorg vi må meddele at Mevasskoia brant ned i helga. Mevasskoia var koienettets nyeste tilskudd og stod ferdig i 2021, den var også blant de mest populære blant koiene. Bak Mevasskoia ligger utallige timer med dugnadsarbeid og fantastisk innsats fra flere ildsjeler. Det er ufattelig trist at alt dette nå er tapt.
Koia brant på et tidspunkt ingen var på koia, så heldigvis kom ingen personer til skade.
Vi i koiestyret er utrolig lei oss for denne hendelsen og jobber med fastslå brannårsak og annen relevant informasjon. Koia er stengt på ubestemt tid.
Vi vil også benytte anledningen til å minne alle om viktigheten av å fokusere på brannsikkerhet når man bruker koiene. Vær forsiktig med levende lys og gassbrennere. Pass alltid på ved fyring i vedovn og badstue, og sjekk alltid at dette har brent ut før du forlater koia. Sjekk alltid at brannalarmer og brannslukkingsapparat er til stede og fungerer som det skal. Ikke bruk plastbøtter til å håndtere aske, men en egnet askebøtte i metall. Husk at asken kan være varm i over to døgn, og at man ikke trenger å tømme asken hver tur.

It is with great sorrow that we must announce that Mevasskoia burned down this weekend. Mevasskoia was the newest addition to the cabin network and was completed in 2021, it was also among the most popular of the cabins. Behind Mevasskoia lie countless hours of volunteer work and fantastic efforts from many dedicated individuals. It is incredibly sad that all of this has now been lost.
The cabin burned at a time when no one was present, so fortunately no one was injured.
We in the cabin board are deeply saddened by this incident and are working to determine the cause of the fire and gather other relevant information. The cabin is closed until further notice.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of focusing on fire safety when using the cabins. Be careful with open flames and gas burners. Always take care when using wood-burning stoves and saunas, and make sure everything has fully burned out before leaving the cabin. Always check that fire alarms and fire extinguishers are present and functioning as they should. Do not use plastic buckets to handle ash, but the proper metal ash bucket that are available at all the cabins. Remember that the ash may be hot up to two days after burning, and you do not have to empty the ash on every trip.
