General Information
The committees in Ski and Fjellsport are for enthusiastic members who want to actively participate in a community of outdoor enthusiasts by organizing trips and events for all members. Joining one of our committees is a fantastic opportunity to make great hiking friends and experience unforgettable adventures in nature! In addition to arranging trips for all Ski and Fjellsport members, the committees go on their own trips and enjoy lots of fun activities together. After each recruitment period, a startup week is held with plenty of social activities and training, culminating in a joint weekend trip for the committees and the board.
Recruitment takes place twice a year, in September and January, in connection with the general assembly. To foster a sense of community and belonging within the committees, we aim to keep them from becoming too large. A committee position lasts for at least one semester, but everyone who is accepted can remain for as many semesters as they wish. Committee leaders are also board members and serve for a minimum of two semesters.
What are the commitments of committee members? You participate as much as you want, but it is expected that you contribute to a positive group dynamic through participation and engagement. Everyone is expected to organize at least one trip or event per semester. Additionally, there is a monthly meeting or workshop.
Committee Amundsen
This committee consists of trip coordinators with medium to high levels of experience. They prefer trips that are a bit more demanding, both physically and technically. Collectively, the committee members possess skills in areas such as navigating steep terrain, winter camping, climbing, glacier travel, and navigation. Some members dream of embarking on larger or smaller expeditions, but they also know how to appreciate a quiet evening by the campfire under the dancing northern lights. Approximately 15 members.
Committee Nansen
This committee consists of trip coordinators with medium to low levels of experience. They prefer heading to the mountains to find peace of mind and take a break from their studies. The main focus is creating enjoyable nature experiences for everyone, whether it’s a short hammock trip in Bymarka, paddling a canoe in Femundsmarka, or a ski touring trip with a chocolate bar in the backpack. At times, they also appreciate a long and exhausting day, knowing the rewarding feeling that comes afterward, whether it’s crawling into a sleeping bag or lighting the fireplace in a cabin. Approximately 15 members.
Sosial Committee
The Social Committee is a group of outdoor enthusiasts who help bring the entire Ski and Fjellsport community together by organizing both small and large events for all members. Examples of events include bouldering, campfire evenings, parties, cross-country skiing, quizzes, and park barbecues. Additionally, committee members are, of course, free to organize weekend trips just like the other committees. Approximately 15 members.
Equipment Committee
The Equipment Committee is a smaller group that assists the equipment manager on the board with managing our storage facility at Dragvoll. Committee members are typically also part of one of the other committees. They help with checking out and returning gear for trips, repairing equipment, purchasing consumables like fuel, firewood, and batteries, and advising on new equipment purchases. Members of the Equipment Committee enjoy free gear rentals for personal trips, as long as the equipment is not needed for an organized Ski and Fjellsport trip. Approximately 6 members.
