4. KYU/MON, ORANGE BELT
General Requirements
– 4. Kyu (Orange Belt): The practitioner must have attended at least 45 training sessions after their last grading.

– Tate-shiho-gatame (Mounted four-point hold)
– Kata-gatame (Shoulder hold)
– Kami-shiho-gatame (Upper four-point hold)
Shime-waza (Strangulations)
– Juji-jime (Cross choke)
– Hadaka-jime (Rear naked choke)
– Okuri-eri-jime (Sliding collar choke)
Kansetsu-waza (Joint Locks)
– Ude-garami (Bent arm lock)
– Ude-hishigi-juji-gatame (Cross arm lock)
Go Kyo no Waza (Throwing Techniques)
All techniques must be demonstrated on both the right and left sides.

– Hiza-guruma (Knee wheel)
– Sasae-tsurikomi-ashi (Supporting foot lift-pull throw)
– Uki-goshi (Floating hip throw)

– O-uchi-gari (Major inner reaping throw)
– Seoi-nage (Shoulder throw)
Dai-nikyo (Second Series) – Orange Belt
– Ko-soto-gari (Small outer reaping throw)
– Ko-uchi-gari (Small inner reaping throw)
– Koshi-guruma (Hip wheel throw)
– Tsurikomi-goshi (Hip throw with lifting pull)
– Okuri-ashi-harai (Sweeping of trailing foot)
– Tai-otoshi (Body drop throw)
– Harai-goshi (Sweeping hip throw)
– Uchi-mata (Inner thigh throw)
Movement Tasks
The practitioner must perform throwing techniques in motion, moving forward, backward, and sideways.
– 1 combination (Renraku-waza)
– 1 counter (Kaeshi-waza)
– 1 attack when uke (opponent) is lying on their stomach
– 1 attack when uke is lying on their back (tori between uke’s legs)
– 2 transitions from tachi-waza (standing techniques) to ne-waza (ground techniques)
Main Goals
– Training should focus on transitions from tachi-waza to ne-waza.
– Practitioners should actively pull or push to break their opponent’s balance.
– Techniques should show clear progress compared to the yellow belt level.
– At the orange belt level, it is recommended that practitioners participate in shiai (competition).
