Who can borrow equipment
Have you paid the training fee for this year? Have you completed a beginner’s course in river or sea kayaking?
Then you can borrow equipment for private trips from Skansen, as long as it does not coincide with official club activities. You can also borrow equipment for all trips officially organized by NTNUI Paddling. When you borrow equipment, it MUST be registered using the QR code for check-out when you borrow the equipment and the QR code for check-in when you return the equipment. The QR codes are posted on the doors at Skansen.
Replacement claims
There are no replacement claims for damage/loss of equipment on NTNUI organized trips, as long as this is reported at check-in, either through the QR code for check-in or by directly informing the river/sea chief.
There is an 80% replacement claim for damage/loss of equipment on private trips, unless the damage is considered wear and tear. This applies only if the borrowed equipment was registered through the QR code for day trips from Skansen/Nidelven, or if the borrowed equipment for private trips elsewhere is pre-approved by the sea chief.
There is a 100% replacement claim for damage/loss of equipment on private trips if the borrowed equipment is not registered or pre-approved.
You must be physically and mentally fit for kayaking in order to borrow club equipment.
Have a great trip! 😊
Day trip from Skansen
Scan the QR-code and fill in the information (hanging on the inside of the door). All kayaks are numbered.
Non-NTNUI members
NTNUI padling members can bring non-members on a trip. It costs NOK 100 each time, paid with Vipps and registered using the QR code hanging on the door at Skansen.

- The paddler has a basic course in the applicable paddling branch or you are an activity leader and responsible for the person on the trip
- The paddler agrees that paddling can involve risk and that private trips take place at their own risk
- The paddler registers themself and the boat borrows on a QR code before and after paddling

Other use
If you plan to borrow equipment to paddle from somewhere else (transportation) or plan to use it over several days, you have to apply to Havsjef (Head of sea section). Register your request in the form below, well in advance.
Maintenance
After each use:
- Flush all equipment with freshwater (there is a hose available by the pier), especially cloth and metall pieces. The paddles split and flush the inside of the lock mechanism.
- Empty boats for water.
- Put equipment back to the assorted spot (everything is sorted by size for easy finding). Paddles are stored in one piece.
- Hang throwing lines to dry (rope out of bag).
Damages and deficiency
If you discover new damages or deficiencies on the seawater equipment, or the storeroom itself, please notify in the form below. Seawater equipment is expected to go through some wear and tear, damages are expected and will be covered by the club. Neglect is not.
Paddle route to Munkholmen
To avoid dangerous incidents to and from Munkholmen (and everything to the east), cross the speedboat path by the pier entrance. The speedboats are big, fast and visible (you in a kayak are none of these things). The route is pictured below.
