Competition autumn

The first competition we participate in each season is the Norwegian Open. It is a competition that runs over two days. Usually seniors compete on Saturday and juniors compete on Sunday. The organizer has toyed with the idea that there will be a two-day competition where both senior and junior compete BOTH Saturday and Sunday, but this is currently just wishful thinking.

Accommodation

Because we always have so many athletes from the Oslo area, we save money by spending the night at each other’s familie’s/friend’s homes. The group leader collects registration information from everyone, as well as asking who has a place to stay and whether they have extra accommodation. The leader organizes so that everyone gets a place to stay for the weekend.

Travel

We as a group do not book travel on behalf of the athletes, everyone has to fix that themselves, but wait until the Head of equipment and travel has said ready-done-go!

We recommend that those who are going to live together also book travel together. The travel and materials manager will publish proposals for itineraries that you can take well in advance of the competition, but the general rule is that you MUST arrive in Oslo on Friday evening. That is, it is not permitted to take flights/night trains that arrive early on Saturday morning. This is because you need a good night’s sleep to perform in competition.

Norwegian Open is usually planned so that seniors compete only on Saturday. Those who wish can still go to the hall to watch the juniors’ competition day for free, but most prioritize sleep, a nice breakfast and the journey home.

Food

This weekend, you usually buy some food together with the people you are going to live with. On the day of the competition we will be given lunch vouchers and it is also possible to buy some food in the hall. Remember to notify the leader and your roommates if you have any food allergies/preferences/intolerances.
