Annual Meeting + New Spond

Annual Meeting

Hey there! The new year is fast approaching, and we’d like to let you know about a few things coming up soon. We’ll be holding our Annual Meeting on January 22 at 6:00 PM (registration and location will be announced soon), so please save the date! This is your chance to influence the direction of the club by voting on or bringing up issues that affect us. You also have the opportunity to run for any of the positions we offer and help elect the new board!

If you’re considering running for a position or have something on your mind that you’d like to address, you can submit your interest by clicking the button below. There, you’ll also find a description of the different board positions.

We’ll be serving pizza, and we hope everyone will join us regardless of whether you plan on running or not. It’s a great chance to get to know the club better! We’ll send out the registration form after New Year’s, so stay tuned.

Spond

We also have a new Spond group with the code QXPKX (you need to pay the membership fee in the shop to join). If you’re completely new, you can follow the steps here: https://medlem.ntnui.no/groups/badminton/

Finally, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎅🎄

Ranking Tournament

Author: Nora Omdal

Hello!

From Friday the 12th to Sunday the 14th, we at NTNUI Badminton hosted a ranking tournament for U13 and senior!

It was three action-packed days from the first match on Friday to the last one on Sunday, with days filled with lots of great badminton and play! Players from all over the country came to participate in the tournament. From NTNUI Badminton, a total of 17 players participated.

We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who contributed to making the tournament run smoothly. A special thanks to the ranking committee who really worked hard for a long time to make the tournament happen. We would also like to extend a big thank you to all the volunteers, who really put in a great effort throughout the weekend. Without you, the tournament would not have been as well-executed as it was. Thank you to each and every one of you!

Here is a summary of the results from the weekend. We had several players who made it to the quarterfinals, and many close matches!

This time, these players made it to the podium

Men’s Singles Senior E

3rd place – Petter Tryland Laheld

Women’s Singles Senior E

3rd place – Nora Omdal

Men’s Doubles Senior E

3rd place – Iver Rolvsjord & Petter Tryland Laheld

Volunteers for the ranking tournament

Hello!

The ranking tournament is fast approaching, and we’re in need of volunteers to keep score during matches, prepare food for the kiosk, assist with setup, etc., over the weekend of April 12th to 14th.

Even if you’re not participating as a player in the tournament, we greatly appreciate everyone who wants to join in the effort. Therefore, a big party is being organized on April 19th for all volunteers! 🥳

You can find an overview of what’s needed here, and feel free to sign up for any times that work for you.

NTNUI Badminton welcomes SportModern as our new partner

Hello!
We are proud to announce that we have recently entered into an agreement with SportModern (also known as Torinor Sport), which will last until 2026. This partnership means that all members will have access to exclusive discounts and offers on badminton equipment! In addition, SportModern will set up stands at tournaments! 🏸

Discounts

  • 20% discount on textiles and rackets
  • 10% discount on shoes, bags, accessories, and shuttles

How to get the discount

  1. Visit www.sportmodern.no
  2. Click on “Log in”
  3. Register as a new private customer
  4. Enter the club code (can be found on Spond)
  5. The club code is only registered once. The next time you log in, you will automatically see the discounted prices.
  6. If you are unsure whether you have registered with the club code, you can contact susan@torinor.no.

Ordering shoes for trial (info from SportModern)

You can still order multiple pairs of shoes for trial. The difference is that upon invoicing, all shoes will be billed and then credited after we have registered the return. You will need to pay for the return shipping yourself. If you use a credit card, the amount will be charged to the card and refunded in the event of a return. Note that the amount is reserved by Klarna when you place an order, but it is only charged once we have approved the order. This means that if you have forgotten to enter the club code and did not receive a discount, I (susan@torinor.no) can adjust it before it is dispatched, and the correct amount is charged by Klarna.
