New Spond Group + Level Structure

Hi everyone, We have now created a new Spond group for spring 2026.

👉 Join here: https://spond.com/invite/FXIAQ

Use Spond code: FXIAQ

New this year is that there are no longer Level 1 and Level 2, but instead levels A, B, and C.

Level Structure in the Club

Level C – Beginner Level
This level is for players who mainly train to have fun. Most players in this group want to play matches during practice, and there is little focus on development and technique. Anyone can be placed at this level, including completely new players.
There will be no coach-led sessions at Level C – the focus is on play, well-being, and enjoyment.

Level B – Intermediate Level
This level is for players who have not learned everything yet but want to develop and improve. Any player with a desire to get better can be placed here.
At Level B, more structured training is introduced, including exercises such as:

  • Feeding
  • Different types of shots
  • Shot variation
  • Doubles rotations

Here, play and training are combined to build skills.

Level A – Advanced Level
This level is for the most experienced players in the club. Players at this level have a good understanding of feeding, master doubles play at a solid level, and can vary their shots effectively.
Extra focus is placed on:

  • When and how different shots should be used
  • The difference between doubles and singles play
  • More intensive training

Doubles play is prioritized, as this is what is mostly used during training sessions.

Advancement and Assessment
The coaches ultimately decide whether players should be moved up a level, as they have the best overview of the differences in playing level.
It is always possible to contact the head of sports to ask what is required in order to be promoted to the next level.

Note: Everyone who was in Level 1 last semester will be placed in Level A. The same applies to Level 2—everyone will be placed in Level B (For players who want to develop, participate in tournaments, and actively contribute to the club). If you do not wish to be in Level B and would prefer to be moved to Level C, that is of course completely fine. In that case, please send a message to Martin Østensen.

All levels have the opportunity to take part in all social events that are organized.

To get access to the Spond group, you must have paid:

Membership fee: NOK 100

Training fee: NOK 400

Level C: Pays only the membership fee of NOK 100

Level A + B: Pays membership fee of NOK 100 + training fee of NOK 400 = NOK 500 total

More information regarding this change can be found in the minutes from the Extraordinary General Meeting 2025, which are available here:

Payment:

Girls’ event 2025: Badminton, pizza, and tons of fun!

What a night! When the Norwegian Badminton Association announced funding for girls’ gatherings, we applied – and got support! Of course, that had to be celebrated with training, fruit, smoothies, and a fun social evening with pizza afterwards 🍕💚

We kicked off the day at Dragvoll with a joint girls’ training session full of laughter and play. After a quick get-to-know-each-other round, we moved on to dodgeball, king’s court, and mixed-level doubles matches so everyone could play together regardless of experience. The atmosphere was amazing from start to finish – and the energy stayed high thanks to fresh fruit and smoothies!

After training, we all went to UMEUS, where the pizza was waiting. We played icebreaker games and small activities, and several stayed behind to play board games afterwards. A truly lovely evening!

The feedback was fantastic – several participants suggested making this a regular event. We couldn’t agree more 💚

A big thank-you to NBF for the support – and to all the girls who made the evening so great. Next gathering? Hopefully soon! 😉

NTNUI Badminton in the May 17th Parade for the very first time – Officially!

This year marked a historic May 17th for NTNUI Badminton – we officially participated in the Constitution Day parade in Trondheim for the very first time! It was incredibly fun to celebrate Norway’s national day together with the rest of the NTNUI family and showcase our love for the sport to the whole city. 🎉

A special thanks goes to our dedicated member, Sara Buvik, who spent an impressive 50 hours creating our amazing banner! 🧵🎨 Thanks to this incredible effort, we were able to march in the parade with pride and color.

We hope this marks the beginning of a new tradition – we’re already looking forward to next year! 💚

Eliteseries in Sandefjord

Hu og hei!

The first team won the 1st Division in the Central Norwegian Badminton Region and thereby qualified for the promotion round for the Elite Series in Sandefjord. They faced Klemetsrud and Sandefjord. By defeating Klemetsrud, they secured a spot in next year’s Elite Series. Although NTNUI Badminton has won the 1st Division many times and participated in the promotion round for the Elite Series on several occasions, they have not played in the Elite Series since 2012. This is a major achievement, and NTNUI Badminton is excited to compete in the Elite Series next year!

Student NM in Bergen

Hu og hei!

A large group of 23 players traveled to Bergen from February 27th to March 2nd to compete in the Student-NM for students, organized by Bergen Badminton Club’s student sports team (BSI).

Players from all over Norway came to participate in the tournament, ranging from beginners to national team players. Everyone played many matches and got to compete against opponents of all levels.

Most of the players from NTNUI Badminton stayed together at a hostel we booked through Airbnb, making the trip super social.

On Friday evening, there was a quiz and social gathering with participants from other clubs, and on Saturday, everyone dressed up for the banquet. We enjoyed great food, entertainment, and music, and the medals were also awarded.

The weekend was an amazing experience for everyone. We had a fantastic time socially and gained valuable match experience to bring home with us.

Here is a summary of the results from the weekend: We had several players who made it to the quarterfinals, and many close matches!

This time, these players made it to the podium:

Men’s Singles🥉 3rd place – Petter Tryland Laheld

Men’s Doubles🥉 3rd place – Iver Rolvsjord & Petter Tryland Laheld

Mixed Doubles🥉 3rd place – Petter Tryland Laheld

Women’s Doubles🥈 2nd place – Nora Omdal
