Roing er en kondisjonsidrett og i motsetning til hva du kanskje tror bruker man hele kroppen i hvert eneste rotak, det er faktisk beina man bruker aller mest. For \u00e5 bli god til \u00e5 ro m\u00e5 du derfor trene variert, alt fra harde intervall\u00f8kter til lange rolige \u00f8kter og tung styrketrening. Fra den minste b\u00e5ttypen for bare en person til den st\u00f8rste, \u00e5tteren hvor det sitter \u00e5tte roere og en styrmann (cox).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Du har kanskje sett Olaf Tufte i OL? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Q1nxJCVFUnc\">Olaf Tufte OL Aten 2004<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det er lange tradisjoner for \u00e5tterroing i studentmilj\u00f8er. Aller mest kjent er den \u00e5rlige konkurransen \u201dThe Boat Race\u201d som g\u00e5r mellom&nbsp;universitetene Oxford og Cambridge. Denne konkurransen g\u00e5r p\u00e5 elven Themsen og er sv\u00e6rt popul\u00e6r. I 2010 ble det estimert at det var 250 000 publikummere ved elven og millioner s\u00e5 det direkte p\u00e5 tv, ogs\u00e5 i Norge blir l\u00f8pet sendt direkte p\u00e5 tv. I NTNUI Roing driver vi mest med det som kalles en\u00e5ret roing (en \u00e5re pr roer) Aller mest ror vi i \u00e5tter, den st\u00f8rste og raskeste b\u00e5ttypen. \u00c5tter er en en\u00e5ret b\u00e5ttype, men om du starter i rogruppa er det allikevel gode muligheter for ogs\u00e5 \u00e5 pr\u00f8ve par\u00e5ret roing.
