{"id":1464,"date":"2018-11-05T20:11:59","date_gmt":"2018-11-05T19:11:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ntnui.no\/badminton\/?page_id=1464"},"modified":"2024-02-21T21:13:13","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T21:13:13","slug":"game-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ntnui.no\/badminton\/en\/game-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Game Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Below is a brief overview&nbsp; &#8211; simplified rules.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scoring System<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A match consists of the best of 3 games of 21 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every time there is a serve \u2013 there is a point scored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The side winning a rally adds a point to its score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 20 all, the side which gains a 2 point lead first, wins that game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point, wins that game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The side winning a game serves first in the next game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interval and Change of Ends<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the leading score reaches 11 points, players have a 60 second interval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 2 minute interval between each game is allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the third game, players change ends when the leading score reaches 11 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Singles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the beginning of the game (0-0) and when the server\u2019s score is even, the server serves from the right service court. When the server\u2019s score is odd, the server serves from the left service court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the server wins a rally, the server scores a point and then serves again from the alternate service court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the receiver wins a rally, the receiver scores a point and becomes the new server. They serve from the appropriate service court \u2013 left if their score is odd, and right if it is even.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Doubles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the beginning of the game and when the score is even, the server serves from the right service court. When it is odd, the server serves from the left court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the serving side wins a rally, the serving side scores a point and the same server serves again from the alternate service court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the receiving side wins a rally, the receiving side scores a point.
